Castro Podcast Player has today become the latest podcast app for iOS to add support for clip sharing. Castro’s update comes just over a month after Overcast for iOS added support for seamlessly sharing clips of podcasts. In Castro, you can access clip sharing by opening the player screen and then tapping and holding the red button to record a clip. You can also tap the red button once to automatically record a 30-second clip, and then use the built-in editor to clean up your recording....

CBS today announced a new deal with the NFL to bring its coverage of the league to its All Access streaming service available across a variety of devices including iPad, Apple TV, and the web. Starting this weekend on December 4th, CBS All Access users will be able to view all of the network’s regular, preseason and postseason games going forward. But Verizon continues to have an exclusive on streaming NFL games to mobile devices apart from tablets, which means the new deal won’t open up the content to iPhone and other smartphone users....

A new study from OpenSignal published today looks into the cellular performance of the most popular iPhones going back to 2013. While there’s nothing too surprising in the findings, it does nail down exactly what average speeds each model sees, how much owners of older iPhones are missing out, how much iPhone cellular speeds have grown over the years, and a few other interesting details. For those with and iPhone 5s, 6 or 6 Plus, the research shows that those models are capable of roughly half of the cellular speeds that the new iPhone XS and XS Max are....

Investor Carl Icahn revealed today that he has purchased another 2.8 million Apple shares bringing his total up to more than 7.5 million. That brings his stake in Apple up to approximately $4.5 billion from the $1 billion worth of Apple stock he reportedly owned last summer. The news comes following Apple’s introduction of a $90 billion share buyback and a 7-to-1 stock split announced last month. Icahn, who had been pressuring Apple to increase value for shareholders in a number of open letters, meetings with CEO Tim Cook, and media interviews since first announcing his purchase of AAPL last year, said he was “extremely pleased” with Apple’s recent announcements....
