Captain Marvel gets up to speed on events leading up to Avengers: Endgame, and everything else she missed since leaving earth in the ’90s, when Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers in a new Audi short film. With over $1 billion grossed at the worldwide box office, Larson’s Captain Marvel already guaranteed it will be a great year for Disney and Marvel Studios.
But of course, that great year is set to get much better when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters. The highly anticipated superhero epic is projected to blow up at the worldwide box office to the tune of $800 million in its opening weekend. As expected, the marketing blitz for Endgame has hit high gear, and in fact is now the most expensive marketing campaign in Marvel’s history. Fans concerned about spoilers are having a hard time avoiding them in the days leading up to the movie’s release, but by-and-large the movie’s secrets have been preserved.
With the marketing for Endgame hitting a crescendo, Audi and Marvel have teamed up to produce a fun short film highlighting Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, who of course is set to join the Avengers. Entitled “The Debriefing,” the short features Danvers in a meeting with some sort of government agent whose job is to get her up to speed on everything she needs to know before meeting up with her new teammates. This includes a quick rundown of who is still alive after the snap, as well as some information about all the new technology that’s come into being since Danvers left Earth back in the ’90s. Fans will no doubt be delighted by the surprise guest appearance later on in the video. See the clip below:
Yes, Goose the cat shows up to take a ride with Carol Danvers in her new Audi, confirming that the beloved alien feline did indeed survive the snap. In addition to the sleek new Audi car, Danvers gets introduced to other vital bits of technology, like cell phones that give you the ability to stream video of yourself looking like a puppy. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Danvers says she’ll stick to her pager. Danvers also finds out about new food trends like guacamole on bread (avocado toast). Once Danvers gets her hands on her new Audi e-tron SUV, touted as the company’s first electric vehicle, her powers prove to be useful in giving the ride a quick supercharge. Of course, this isn’t the first time Marvel has teamed up with Audi, as Tony Stark first introduced the Audi R8 in the original Iron Man. Endgame will also feature Audi vehicles, including the Audi e-tron Sportback concept and the Audi e-tron GT concept.
As such promotional tie-ins go, “The Debriefing” is actually clever, and provides a (tongue-in-cheek) connection between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. It also gives Avengers fans one more thing to chew on as they wait impatiently for the big movie to arrive.
