What Is A Pet Policy?

Pet policies are sets of regulations that dictate the rules for pets for pet parents, travelers, or tenants. These policies are in place to protect both the pet and its parents and any other passengers or neighbors who might be affected by it by defining what is required of pet parents. This policy, for example, defines if a pet is allowed at all and, if it is, it accounts for the weight and the extra charges (if they apply). A pet owner must be properly informed of these policies before he decides to embark on a journey to put the lives of the pet and other passengers at risk. The areas covered in pet policies are the number of pets allowed, pet weight requirements, breed restrictions, no-pet policies, types of pets allowed, and charges to pay for having a pet.

The Cebu Pacific Airlines

Cebu Pacific is a cost-effective airline located in Metro Cebu, Philippines. Established in 1988, Cebu Pacific stands as Asia’s oldest and cheapest airline. Cebu Pacific Pet Policy

If you are worried about your pet’s safety during a flight, carefully read the Pet policy below.

  1. Pet Policy for Checked Baggage

This involves flying pets as baggage in the cargo when on the same plane with your pet. Sadly, The Cebu Pacific does not offer checked baggage services.

  1. Air cargo pet policies

Cebu Pacific ships various kinds of pets in flight. However, there are certain restrictions placed and things you must keep in mind, like temperature restrictions, breed restrictions, health restrictions, and the provision of required forms and crate requirements. Note that the Cebu Pacific airline allows this mainly for domestic flights.

Temperature Restrictions: Since pets are kept in the cargo hold, you have to be sure to know the temperature limit of the plane for the safety of your pet.

Breed restrictions: Cebu Pacific always take precautions when transporting snubbed-nosed species. If it must be on a flight, it is highly recommended that they ship them in crates larger than the normal size.

Pet restrictions and provision of required forms: sick pets are not allowed on board. Therefore, an updated health certificate and proof of rabies vaccination must be issued by a licensed vet doctor and a travel permit from the headquarters of an animal industry, which will be attached to the crate.

Crate Requirements: The international air transport association approved crate is the only allowed carrier on board. A pet pad or compromised pet pad must be used in the crate. Also, a clip should be used for added protection of the pet.

  1. In-Cabin Pet Policy

Every kind of pet is not allowed into the cabin of Cebu Pacific airline except if its destination is the United States of America or if the pet is an emotional support or service animal. An emotional support animal is one that consoles a passenger with mental health issues, and a service animal is usually a trained dog that is there to fill the void of a passenger with a disability. An emotional support animal is only allowed in the case where a written document from a legitimate mental health professional is submitted, and the document must have been issued within one year from the departure date.

  1. Restricted Breeds on board

Cebu Pacific has placed a ban on some species of dogs and cats and would, for no reason, carry any of them on board. These breeds include the Chihuahua, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Pit Bull, all pug breeds, English Toy Terrier, bulldog breeds, American Pit Terrier, etc. You can simply make inquiries to confirm and cross-check with your breed of dog or other pets. Persian, exotic, Birman, Burmese, and Himalayan cats are not allowed.

  1. Serviced location

The Cebu Pacific has its destinations in specific locations all over the country (Philippines). You can search for your preferred location on their official website.

Precautions To Take To Avoid Getting In Trouble With Your Pet:

• Always make sure your pet has current licenses, tags, and medications before booking a flight.

• Give your pet adequate attention. Do not consider taking it on board if you don’t do this because it can become fussy and aggressive.

• Keep your dog at arm’s length while waiting to be boarded or after arriving at your destination. You may try using a leash.

• Always have a trash bin on the leash to clean up after your pet.

In a case where you are not certain about a policy or need some clarification on any of the Cebu Pacific Pet policies, it is best not to make any assumptions but to make inquiries from the Cebu Pacific website or contact the customer service or the cargo team at cargocare@cebupacificair.com before purchasing a ticket so as not to get into trouble with your pet, because a lack of compliance with any rule can lead to a denial of your pet’s boarding freedom. Try to minimize the stress by following all the necessary guidelines.

1.  Is it possible to purchase a seat for my pet on Cebu Pacific Airlines?

No. Pets are only allowed in their carrier the whole flight, kept under the seat in front of you. This does not apply to service or emotional support dogs.

  1. How much does the Cebu Pacific pet fee cost?

There is no fixed price for the pet fees. The charges are heavily dependent on the excess baggage rate for your route.
