Chadwick Boseman recently trolled an interviewer about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - namely regarding Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther 2. Considering his character, T’Challa, died at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, his involvement would seem unlikely; that is, were he not the main character in a massive franchise.
Considering that half of all living things were wiped out at the end of Avengers: Endgame, including a large portion of the Avengers, Avengers: Endgame will kick off with a limited amount of heroes teaming up to reverse Thanos’ damage and save the day. Unfortunately, one hero who bit the dust (and turned to dust) was Black Panther, so his future is not quite as bright as his standalone movie’s success suggested. That said, Black Panther 2 is all but officially confirmed, and the surviving Avengers will no doubt figure out some kind of resolution that will bring back the fallen heroes. How exactly they’ll pull it off is the big mystery, but there’s no doubt it’ll happen one way or another. That said, Boseman is clearly having some fun with his questionable fate prior to Avengers: Endgame’s upcoming release.
In a recent red carpet interview at CinemaCon in Las Vegas (via @cinematicmemes), Boseman was asked about future MCU films like Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther 2, and he explained that he can’t answer any questions about any of the films because his character is dead. When asked for his opinion on the anticipation building around Avengers: Endgame, he said, “It’s great, but… I’m dead. So I can’t answer any questions about that.” And when the interviewer continued to asked some follow-up questions, his response to both were simply, “I’m dead.” Check out the clip below:
The secrets surrounding the MCU’s future are not taken lightly. Especially with Avengers: Endgame, the anticipation continues to build, with presale tickets already breaking records, and some fans even turning to Ebay to get their hands on some. In fact, Marvel Studios may be doing such a solid job at keeping certain elements from the film from the public that there is even speculation recent trailers for the film have been digitally altered.
As for Black Panther 2, fans can expect to get some concrete information once Avengers: Endgame has been released and fans have had a chance to finally see how events play out. Even though the fate of certain characters - like Black Panther - are likely to get happy endings by the end of Avengers: Endgame, it’s still less about the outcome than it is about the journey getting there, and Boseman is clearly being extra careful about not letting anything slip.
